Thursday Thoughts for Inspiration

Thursday Thoughts for InspirationFirst, a little introduction. I hope for this to be a regular weekly post, although some weeks I may not be able to post. This is simply a collection of the things that I have found inspiring since the last Thursday Thoughts for Inspiration post, to include books, magazines, websites and blogs. Wherever possible I will include a link to the specific post rather than the whole site/blog and a link to the relevant website for the subscription to the magazine or to purchase the book on Amazon. I will also wherever possible include a link to the Ravelry review. I may or may not include photos from other people’s blogs, and when I do I will credit them for the photo and link back to the post where I found it. I will also try to write a little bit about why I have included a link here, but sometimes words are not necessary.

Some weeks I may leave out the blogs and websites and only feature the magazines and books that have inspired me, as a kind of review I suppose. These will only be short reviews, and full reviews will have their own individual posts.

I would be grateful if you could click on over to the websites and blogs mentioned here and if appropriate leave a comment for them. Thank you.

Now, on with the show….

Inspiring Books

Crochet Master Class by Jean Leinhauser and Rita WeissCrochet Master Class by Jean Leinhauser – Ravelry Amazon

This book is fabulous. I am sure I am going to say that about a lot of books before the end of the year, but I really, sincerely mean it. The book is divided into sections for each technique, with clear instructions on how to work the technique and diagrams followed by a project featuring it. By far the easiest to follow instructions for many forms of crochet.

Unexpected Afghans by Robyn ChachulaUnexpected Afghans by Robyn Chachula – Ravelry Amazon

The range of blankets, throws and afghans together with the range of techniques covered makes this book an absolute must for any avid crocheter. I already have at least two of the projects on my to-do list!

The Simple Art of Japanese Paper Crafts by Mari OnoThe Simple Art of Japanese Paper Crafts by Mari Ono – Amazon

I love this little book with twenty-four projects and twenty-four pieces of washi so you can make every project in the book. I have my eye on a few, but need to find the time to make them!

Inspirational magazines

Simply Crochet magazineSimply Crochet issue 01 – Ravelry Website

This new magazine is filled with inspirational projects and articles. I have bookmarked several projects in the magazine, some of which will be made in the next week or so. There are beautiful blankets, amazing apparel and stunning soft furnishings.

I am still drooling over this one with all its inspirational home decor ideas and beautiful crochet. Don’t take my word for it – check it out for yourself!
