The Spider Web Doily Saga continues

First of all, let me proudly announce that I have now completed all four Spider Web Doilies. I am very proud of myself for finishing them so quickly. However, I had a couple of little hiccups along the way and I have also managed to get hold of some size 20 crochet thread so I will be making another one.

Absence

It has been more than two weeks since I last posted and I have been very, very busy. Unfortunately, I don’t have an awful lot to show for it. Please accept my apologies for this. If you want to know what has been happening, read this post. I’m sorry I can’t think of another way to write it for this blog, but my nerves are frayed and my braincells have been in the blender.

Fabulous Finishes on Friday

I have been meaning to write this post for nearly two months, but what with one thing and another I just haven’t got around to it until now. And now that I am sat here with time to write the post, my mind has gone blank and I can’t think what to say. Oh well. We’ll let the photos do the talking shall we?

Hey…That’s MINE! | lpcrochet

http://lpcrochet.com/2013/06/23/hey-thats-mine/

I was directed to this post by UK Crochet Patterns and I have to say that I agree. The only copyright notice I put on my patterns is that you can’t sell, copy or redistribute the pattern, bur that you can sell as many as you like of what you make using the pattern – after all, no one else will be able to make the utem exactly the way I have, even if they use tgw same hook and yarn as me since no two people crochet exactly the same way.

I am in the process of typing up a few patterns of my own at the moment and there is one set of four related patterns that do have a copyright issue because I didn’t design the characters they are based on. In this particular case, the company that owns the copyright to the original characters doesn’t want anyone else to make money out of their characters.

I can understand why designers get upset when someone backward-works a pattern they (the designer) spent a long time designing and writing and is making money out of their hard work, but to get possessive over items made from a pattern is, well, nonsensical to me. But that’s just me, and I don’t see things the same wat as most people…

Linky linky linky

I have been toying with the idea of using a linky generator for a while now, but the ones I kept stumbling over (Linky Tools for example) require a paid subscription. It’s not that I’m a skinflint, because I’m not. It’s just that we live on a budget and my blogs are for my amusement. I don’t make any money out of them, nor would I wish to, so it seems futile to pay for tools to assist my blogging. Maybe one day in the distant future I will consider buying a domain and server space and will treat myself to a WordPress.org self-hosted blog with all the flashing lights and tinsel, but for now I am happy with what I have and have no wish to change.

That said, I still want to make it easier for my readers to link up their projects on WIP Wednesday. Therefore, having done a little research, I am going to try a few linky generators over the next few weeks. I’m just letting you know so you don’t think I have gone even crazier than you already believe me to be, and also to ask for your help. Please, Dear Readers, over the next few weeks or months, could you be patient with these changes and, if you feel like participating, please let me know how easy you find these to be. I will run a poll when I have exhausted the list of free linky generators and I would then very kindly ask you to participate in that. If you don’t want to get involved, that is fine and you can just ignore these silly requests of mine. If you do want to get involved then great! The more feedback I get the better. if all else fails, I can always fall back on the comments section of the blog anyway!
